In addition to identifying threats at distances, it temporarily impairs an adversaries vision. The X300U-B is equipped with a T-slot thumbscrew clamp that attaches securely to Universal and Picatinny rails found on most handguns. Other features include peripheral illumination and ambidextrous switching, with one-finger control, two features that are extremely beneficial.

The Surefire X300U-B is machined of aerospace aluminum making the body rugged, and the Mil-Spec hard anodized coating provides scratch and corrosion resistance. It is sealed to make it weatherproof, and Surefire has made the X300U-B waterproof, with an IPX7 rating, adding to the excellence of this weapon light. Shooters have a choice of black or tan finishes.
