The CMMG Dissent Br4 300BLK is a feature-restricted variant of the dissent adhering to the AR performance, while removing the 'assault weapon' features, to comply in the most restrictive jurisdictions. Engineered around CMMG's Buffer-less Compact Action, offering a shotgun-style stock layout, this Dissent Br4 model remains legal, while still partnering with standard AR magazines and optics-ready furniture. Running on a direct impingement system, and fitted with this compact action, eliminates the need for a traditional buffer on this unique stock arrangement. Intended to maximize the 300 BLK cartridge's versatility, CMMG's Dissent Br4 accepts both subsonic and supersonic loads for defense, hunting and general purpose. Dissent 300 BLK BR4 rifles are offered with carbine‑length gas systems in either a 16.1 inch barrel or a 14.5 inch barrel, that uses a pinned and welded CMMG ZEROED brake to achieve a non‑NFA 16.1 inch overall barrel length.

All CMMG Dissent Br4 300BLK models offer the 7075-T6 Aluminum upper and a Br4 Billet 7075 Aluminum lower that provide a rigid foundation with modern AR style controls. In place of a pistol grip and AR stock, the Dissent Br4 uses a Remington 870-compatible Magpul SGA fixed stock with a traditional rifle style lower profile filling the restrictive-states compliance. Additionally, a forward, non-reciprocating, left-side charging handle makes manipulation easy, while still keeping the rifle on target, and incorporates a reversible cross-bolt safety. CMMG's ZEROED single-stage, or drop in single-stage trigger, deliver a clean break suited for defensive or general purpose shooting. Every Dissent Br4 also uses a proprietary free-float M-LOK handguard, from 13.5 - 15 inches, depending on the configuration, with a full length Picatinny top rail to add optics and sights. CMMG's threaded Dissent Br4 models ship with their ZEROED muzzle brake on 5/8x24 threads, and some compliant variants of this rifle use an unthreaded Empire-Profile barrel with a recessed crown.
